Building Specs and highlights

How do you compare homes from one builder to another? First of course is floor plans. You have to like the floor plan and elevation. Then you must compare what you get, compare how they are built, compare the materials used. Compare what you get with your purchase. Compare roofing materials, sub-roof materials, wall sheathing and features. Do not get hung up on price per square foot. Why you ask? Because it’s a misleading number. Want to know what doesn’t count towards that calculation square footage? Decks, porches, bathrooms, garages, counter tops, flooring, appliances. But ALL of those items count towards your cost and raise the price per square foot. Don’t be lured into comparing purely price per square foot. A better home will ALWAYS be more expensive per square foot. But more expensive per square foot doesn’t always mean you are getting a better home. Compare what you are getting with what you want. A simple trick used to reduce the cost per square foot… having the buyer pay the hook-up fees. Why? You guessed it, it lowers the price per square foot. We include paying the water and sewer hook-ups. All of our models are "stick built" and feature a first floor master with ensuite bath that includes a whirlpool tub, separate shower and ceramic tile floors. Our kitchens include complete appliance package and feature ceramic style flooring. Energy efficient Low-E insulated double hung windows and a conditioned crawl space under the home are also included. *Excluding piling home

Sheathing System.

J&A Builders uses the Zip System for exterior walls and roof sheathing. Why? Because it’s better. No, it’s far superior. Look at most high end builders and they are using Zip Systems on their walls and roof. Check the link, do your own research. Is it more expensive? Yes. Do we charge more for it? No. We use it because, we want you to have the security of knowing, if a storm takes off some siding or shingles, your home is still protected from the elements. Try that with OSB and poorly installed house wrap.

Condition Crawl

All of J&A homes come with conditioned crawl spaces. In it’s simplest form, your crawl space is enclosed, insulated and uses the earths thermal power to help heat and cool your home. Giving you a more comfortable home throughout the year. Oh, and it saves on heating and cooling.
